⚠ Issue: Snapped top hinge – door could not be locked
Ukiyo Handroll, a popular restaurant in Covent Garden, urgently contacted London Window & Door Repairs when their main entrance door suddenly stopped working. The top hinge had completely broken off which resulted in the door losing its proper alignment and therefore it was both impossible to close and lock the door.
Since the restaurant was situated in a very busy area and was open daily, the situation posed a risk of break, in almost immediately if not resolved quickly. Hence, it was necessary to respond quickly and professionally in order to secure the premises and enable the business to continue to operate safely.
The owner of Ukiyo Handroll spotted the issue as the door was no longer fitting properly into the frame and then he called us immediately. The top hinge had given way therefore the other hinges were overloaded, and the door was twisted out of its frame. The result was that the locking system could not be used anymore.
Our emergency repair team was there in no time to check on the problem and lock up the place.

3. The rest of the hinges were under strain.
4. The lock couldn't engage because of the door's shifted position.
If it hadn't been fixed, this could have resulted in more hinge failure, frame damage, and continued security risks.
On, site, the engineer first had to support and realign the door before he could start the repair.
What the engineer did:
1. He safely realigned the entrance door.

3. He checked the other hinges to see if they showed any signs of wear or stress.
