Earlier this week, our commercial team got an urgent call from lululemon on Long Acre in Covent Garden. Their main glass entrance door had been damaged in a theft incident, and the lock was no longer working correctly.
As a busy, customer facing store in Central London, it was very important to secure the entrance quickly. An engineer from our side visited the site on the same day to look at the damage and figure out the safest way to proceed.
Upon evaluation, it was obviously very hard that the internal lock mechanism had been forcibly damaged. The door could not be locked securely, thus the store was left open to any threats. Due to this being a big commercial glass door, any repair work would have to be done with the utmost care, the right handling equipment and enough people.
It was also obvious that taking the door off while trading would be dangerous for both customers and staff. Hence we advised that they come back after closing time with a team of three to finish the repair safely and without any inconvenience.
The store decided to go with it and an out- of- hour visit was planned for the same evening.
After closing the shop at 8:00 pm, our commercial glass door team went back to the site. Step by step, the door was removed safely and secured. The broken lock mechanism was taken out, and a new GEZE lock was supplied and professionally fitted.
After putting the Repair Story the new lock in, the glass door was refitted, aligned and adjusted to ensure smooth operation. Our engineers performed full functional testing, they checked the closing action, locking strength and overall stability of the entrance.
Every stage of the repair was done on site that evening.
The door of the Lululemon store was fully restored by the end of the visit. It was operating smoothly, locking securely and ready for normal use the following day. Thanks to the out- of, hours repair, the store experienced no disruption to customers, trading or staff.
It was another day when a commercial entrance in Central London was made safe, secure and fully functional in a single day.
